Community and Business Leaders Partner to Host Business Summit To Promote

Economic Vitality in the City of La Habra

La Habra, Calif., February 24, 2011— American First Credit Union and the City of La Habra’s Mayor’s Office have spearheaded La Habra’s first Business Summit, to take place the first week of March. The Summit will bring together a group of local merchants who not only have expertise in running their own businesses but who understand how to survive in this economic environment.  Businesses participating in the Summit will be able to share their business successes and challenges, voice their ideas, discuss potential business opportunities and collaborate with other business and community leaders.

The core philosophy of the Summit is that great things will happen when great minds and leaders come together to make extraordinary things happen. The current economic climate calls for “out of the box” thinking for businesses to survive while meeting the needs of their customers.   This type of thinking is at the heart of La Habra Mayor Jim Gomez’ vision toward building economic growth in the City of La Habra, and American First Credit Union’s goal toward promoting economic vitality within the communities they serve.

“This type of gathering is the first of its kind in the City of La Habra,” said Mayor Jim Gomez.  “We are extremely excited about the potential results from the Summit, and the new economic ideas that will result from business leaders coming together to focus on the future of our community. We are extremely thankful for our ongoing partnership with American First and for their support to help make the business Summit a success.”

“The credit crisis has been a challenge for all businesses – large or small,” said Pam Easley, President and CEO of American First Credit Union.  “Dedication to the financial well-being of our members has been at the center of who we are as a credit union. However, of equal importance, has been making a positive difference in the communities that have supported our business and goals throughout the years.”

American First Credit Union (AFCU) is a member-owned, full-service financial cooperative established in 1952. AFCU has over $570 million in assets and serves more than 50,000 members. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Orange County or 16 surrounding cities, including Whittier.
