American First Credit Union Organizes and Donates Books for Back to School Book Drive
La Habra, Calif., September 8th, 2009— As schools throughout California are struggling to cope with budget cuts and reduced private sponsorship programs, La Habra High School recently reached out to the community for reading material donations for their daily 20 minute student reading program. Answering their call was American First Credit Union, who organized a book drive in which employees were asked to donate new or used books, paperbacks, magazines and novels for the school’s reading library. American First employees hand delivered more than 150 books and periodicals to La Habra High, just in time for the first week of school.
“American First has once again illustrated our commitment to community partnering, as was shown with the recent book drive for La Habra High School,” said Bob Street, American First President/CEO. “I am proud of our employees for taking the initiative to organize and support our local high school and its reading program.”
