American First Credit Union Employees Donate $9,000 to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles
La Habra, Calif., September 10th, 2007— Childrens Hospital Los Angeles recently accepted a $9,000 donation from American First Credit Union employees, who made weekly contributions to the “Credit Unions For Kids” program over the past year. American First Credit Union employees have participated in the program for a decade and in that time have raised and donated more than $ 98,000.00 to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
The donation was first announced on local radio station, K-BIG 104’s annual “Tunathon”, hosted by radio personality, Charlie Tuna. Michele Megill, AFCU’s Vice President Sales and Service discussed the credit union’s participation, fundraising efforts and the $9,000 donation during her on-air interview. As AFCU employees answered phones and made pledge calls, Megill explained that credit union employees host fundraisers and donate money from their paychecks throughout the year to contribute to this valuable cause.
As one of its many community philanthropic efforts, 174 of American First Credit Union’s 203 employees participated in the “Credit Unions for Kids” program this year by voluntarily donating a minimum of $2 per week to go into the charitable fund. In addition, contributing employees displayed their support of the cause by wearing “Credit Unions for Kids” polo shirts once a week.
“American First Credit Union is exceptionally proud of our employees for their generosity and long-standing commitment to this worthy cause,” said Bob Street, American First President/CEO.
