Credit Union Employees Help Make Holiday Season Bright For Local Children and Teens

“Angel Tree” and “Santa Comes to La Habra” Events Provide Gifts for Needy Children

La Habra, Calif., December 22, 2009— As charitable organizations continue to see a decline in holiday gift donations this season, American First Credit Union has remained committed to their holiday charitable gift-giving efforts.

The credit union’s sixth annual Angel Tree gift campaign solicited gift donations for the children and teens of the Crittenton Services for Family and Children in Fullerton, CA.  The Angel Tree, filled with gift tags and wish lists, was displayed in American First Credit Union’s La Habra corporate office and employees voluntarily selected a gift tag to donate gifts for the abused and neglected children ranging from newborns to 17 years old. Approximately 65 employees donated more than 100 gifts including toys, shoes, artwork supplies, stuffed animals, electronics and gift cards.

American First employees also joined other local community and religious organizations to organize the “Santa Comes to La Habra” event. The event took place on Saturday, December 19th, with 3,000 children enjoying food, games, pictures with Santa, as well as gifts and food donated by American First employees and other local charitable organizations.

“This holiday season, American First employees have donated several hundred gifts to families in need,” said Bob Street, American First President/CEO. “I’d like to personally thank our thoughtful employees for their ongoing commitment to help brighten the holidays for so many children this year.”

American First Credit Union (AFCU) is a member-owned, full-service financial cooperative established in 1952. AFCU has over $580 million in assets and serves more than 60,000 members.
