Credit Union Remains Committed To Community and Charitable Causes

 

     La Habra, Calif., December 26th, 2008— At American First Credit Union, the Season of Giving lasts throughout the year, as the credit union remains committed to contributing to local charities and helping people in need. In 2008 alone, the credit union and their employees and business partners volunteered countless hours and made contributions to several local charitable organizations. Philanthropic efforts included:

Monetary Donations:

  • $5,000  Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
  • $2,000  Veterans’ Memorial Fund
  • $2,000   Busse Family Special Needs Trust
  • $1,000  St. Pius Golf Tournament & Church Festival
  • $1,000  St. Cecilia’s Silent Auction
  • $500     Tustin Public School Foundation for 2008 Teacher of the Year awards
  • $500     St. Cecilia Golf Classic
  • $500     Hope School Silent Art Auction
  • $500     Linda Vista School Community Fair
  • $ 500    North Sunrise Little League
  • $400     St. Cecilia and St. Pius School- Worthy Student Award
  • $250     Hope Special Education
  • $250     Precious Life Pregnant Homeless Shelter
  • $100     Villa Park High School- Women Transitional Living Center

Community Participation:

  • 160 classroom financial presentations to 1500 Orange County students
  • Buena Park Library- City workshop financial classes
  • Precious Life Pregnant Homeless Shelter- Financial literacy classes
  • Coastline ROP- Adult financial education classes
  • Red Ribbon Week- School contest sponsorship
  • Hope Special Education- Walk-a-Thon volunteers
  • CU Youth Week- Essay and coloring contests and prizes
  • Fire Relief Efforts-168 trees planted and 50 bags of clothing donated to fire victims
  • Susan G. Komen 3-day walk- Employee participation
  • Multiple Sclerosis 100-mile bike ride- Employee participation

Holiday Giving:

  • Orange County Food Bank- 450 pounds of Thanksgiving food items collected and donated
  • 100 Angel Tree gifts donated for the Crittenton Services for Family and Children
  • 500 food items donated to La Habra’s Operation Santa Clause
  • Hope School – Hosted holiday concert and sold environmentally friendly tote bags for fundraiser
  • El Dorado High School Fundraiser- Holiday gift wrap booth participation
