Credit Union Employees Volunteer At Annual Charity Carnival

La Habra, Calif., October 18th, 2007— As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local charities, ten American First Credit Union (AFCU) employees recently volunteered their Saturday afternoon to work at a charity carnival for local abused and neglected children. The carnival, benefitting the children of Crittenton Services for Children and Families, took place on Saturday, October 6th at Tri-City Park in Placentia, California. The credit union donated a hot dog booth and popcorn machine for the event and employees served hotdogs and popcorn to children and families throughout the day.

For the past three years, AFCU has participated in the annual carnival. Throughout the year, AFCU also supports the charity through other events and activities, including the annual holiday Angel Tree campaign to collect toys and presents for the abused children.

“American First Credit Union is pleased to participate in the Crittenton carnival and to have the opportunity to put smiles on the faces of children who have been through so much,” said Bob Street, American First President/CEO.

The mission of Crittenton Services for Children and Families is to help heal the wounds of abuse and neglect; to strengthen families-whether birth, foster or adoptive; and to help troubled adolescents reach their full potential. Crittenton has served children and adolescents since 1966. The Harbor Campus in Fullerton, California provides a variety of treatment services for up to 40 boys and girls that include: early substance abuse prevention; sexual abuse treatment; anger management and assertion skills programs; and a variety of recreation options including extensive use of expressive therapies.

American First Credit Union (AFCU) is a member-owned, full-service financial cooperative established in 1952. It has five convenient Orange County branches, located in La Habra, Buena Park, Placentia, Orange and Tustin. AFCU has over $656 million in assets and serves more than 75,000 members.
