Credit Union Reaches Out to Members
Who May Face Challenges Making Their Mortgage Payments
La Habra, Calif., April 23rd, 2008— American First Credit Union has implemented a unique outreach program to assist members who may face challenges making their monthly mortgage payment. Developed in response to recent changes in the local economy and real estate market, the Member Assistance Program proactively reaches out to members who may have been financially impacted by fluctuating mortgage interest rates and terms and who may not be able to meet their monthly payment obligation. The program’s goal is to help members stay in their homes and avoid a foreclosure.
Members recently received a letter introducing the program and were encouraged to contact the credit union for a free financial evaluation if they had concerns about their ability to make their mortgage payment. Upon request, the credit union will work with members to develop a customized, confidential plan that may include modifying members’ accounts in order to optimize the members’ cash flow and increase the possibility for them to remain in their home.
“We want members to know that we’re here to help them through their financial challenges, whatever they may be,” said Carlos Miramontez, AFCU’s Vice President, Operations. “By reaching out to members at an early stage, we’re able to help them work through their financial issues before it becomes more difficult to find a solution.”
