
More than $37,000 Donated to Charity In 2007
La Habra, Calif., December 28th, 2007— At American First Credit Union, the Season of Giving lasts throughout the year, as the credit union remains committed to contributing to local charities and helping people in need. In 2007 alone, the credit union and their employees and business partners raised more than $37,000 for local charities and volunteered countless hours for local charitable organizations. Philanthropic efforts included:
- $10,000 for college scholarships
- $9,000 donation for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles
- $3,000 raised at silent art auction for special needs students
- $15,000 raised for child abuse prevention
In addition, the credit union continues a number of community outreach efforts, such as the Bank at School Program to provide money management skills to children. In 2007 alone, more than 60 classroom financial presentations were made to 2,500 children. In addition, AFCU associates raised money for a veteran’s memorial fund, collected donations for fire victims, and organized a holiday Angel Tree gift drive to provide gifts for needy children.
