As financial services professionals entrusted with sensitive financial information, American First Credit Union respects the privacy of our Members and is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of each Member's financial records consistent with state and federal laws. Online Privacy Practices - How We Collect and Use Your Information
You may interact with us in a variety of ways online, including through a mobile device. We offer sites and applications that permit browsing and do not require registration. We also offer the ability to access your accounts online, which requires you to register and securely login. Information we may collect about you through online interaction includes information you input, such as your name, social security number, address, email address, card numbers, other contact information; data resulting from your activity, such as transaction information; and location information. We may also gather additional information, such as the type of device and browser you are using, the IP address of your device, information about your device’s operating system, and additional information associated with your device. We may also gather information collected through cookies and other technologies, as described further below. This information allows us to better understand your needs so we can serve you better.

Guidelines for Collection and Storage of Member Information

As a general rule, American First does not automatically collect personal information. The submission of personal information is initiated by the website visitor. We limit the amount and type of information we collect and retain that which is required to establish and manage your account, understand your needs and provide services, offer new products and services, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements. It is our policy that personal information, such as your name, postal and e-mail address or telephone number, is private and confidential. Accordingly, the personal information you provide is stored in a secure location is accessible only by designated staff, and is used only for the purposes for which you provide the information.

American First Credit Union does use cookies to enhance our Members' online experience. For certain applications, such as Online Banking, cookies are a requirement because they help protect the privacy of a Member's transactions by, for example, automatically terminating the online session if the Member forgets to log out.

Cookies cannot be used to capture your e-mail address, obtain data from your hard drive or gain confidential or sensitive information about you. Additionally, cookies cannot be read by a website other than the one that set the cookie. Some websites, however, use cookies to obtain information from your browser. You can set your browser to notify you before accepting a cookie or restrict the use of cookies. Our website tracks information about the visits to our website. For example, we compile statistics that show the daily number of visitors to our site, the daily requests we receive for particular files on our website, and what countries those requests come from. These aggregated statistics are used internally to better provide services and may also be provided to others, but again, the statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to gather such information.

Third-Party Disclosure
We do not disclose or sell personal information about you or our former members to non-affiliated third parties, except as permitted or required by law or regulation or as specified above. We may disclose all of the information we collect to companies with whom we have a financial services agreement to offer financial products and services to you. Employees Are Responsible For Protecting Member Information

American First Credit Union limits employee access to Member information to those employees with a legitimate business need for the information. Employees are educated so that they understand the importance of Member confidentiality. Appropriate disciplinary policies help to enforce privacy responsibilities.

We Strive to Ensure Our Member Records are Accurate

We have internal controls and procedures designed to keep and report Member information as accurately and completely as possible. We have procedures in place for timely correction of inaccurate information. We respond promptly when a Member tells us his or her information is not accurate.

American First Limits Disclosure of Member Information

We do not disclose Member information unless:

  • We need to conduct a business transaction; such as responding to requests for verification of account status, transferring Member accounts, sharing information with credit reporting agencies.
  • We suspect fraud or are otherwise required or permitted to do so by law or regulation.
  • A Member requests or gives us permission to disclose the information.
  • We want to provide products or services we believe may be of interest to our Members. Those companies outside American First that we select to offer services or products to our Members must agree to respect the privacy of our member information.

We Respect Your Solicitation Preferences

Our Online Privacy practices are subject to change and are reviewed periodically. Any changes will result in an updated revised date at the bottom of these practices and will be effective upon the date of posting on the site.
