Step 1 - Endorse Your Check

Endorse the back of your check first. Print the words FOR MOBILE DEPOSIT ONLY below your signature to ensure timely processing.

Is this an American First Credit Union change or is this a requirement for all financial institutions? This requirement comes from a banking regulation change and applies to all mobile deposits at all financial institutions. It’s not just a change for credit union members.

Is this endorsement required on all checks deposited? No, this endorsement only applies to mobile deposits and is not required when you visit a branch to deposit a check or if you send your check deposits by mail.

Why is this endorsement required? It's so much longer than a regular endorsement. This change is being implemented to protect your deposit so that it’s not accidentally presented at another financial institution when it’s already been deposited via the mobile app, and causing a returned check fee to you.

Can I use the check box in the endorsement area rather than using this endorsement? No, the mobile deposit check box and space for the date is for your record keeping and unfortunately does not meet the new requirement for mobile deposits. Always print 'For Mobile Deposit Only' beneath your signature endorsement to ensure timely processing of your funds.

If I am depositing a check for my business do I need to sign my name with the mobile deposit endorsement? No, business members should endorse the check to whom it is made payable and print 'For Mobile Deposit Only' underneath.

Step 2 - Take a Picture

Simply take a photo of both sides of your check using the the American First Mobile App and tap 'submit.' Your check will automatically be deposited into your account with proper endorsement.

Once the money is in your account, void your check and save it for 30 days. Depending on the amount of the check, deposit amount may not be immediately available for withdrawal.

To ensure timely posting of your mobile check deposits, print FOR MOBILE DEPOSIT ONLY below your endorsement on the back of the check. Mobile deposits will be rejected if not properly endorsed. If you are not yet using the American First Mobile app, download the free app and deposit checks directly to your account, without a trip to the bank.
